This formula is a variant of Ding Chuan Tang (Ginkgo Nut & Apricot Seed Formula) that was first recorded by Wu Min in the ‘Exquisite Formulas for Fostering Longevity (fu shou jing fang) in 1530. The addition of Aster tataricus (zi wan), Inula britannica (xuan fu hua), Citrus maxima (hua ju hong) have the combined actions of resolving Phlegm, redirecting the Lung Qi downward and alleviating cough.
